Day 6
Day 6
The day started around 10:30 when we left the Seattle train station. We caught an uber and headed to the Museum of Modern Pop culture or Mopop.
Mopop is interesting from the very start, and when I say start I mean from the outside. It is different from every angle, and it itself is a work of modern art. once you enter the lobby you see more of the same the walls are warped in the same places they are on the outside you can see the seems and patches in the metal, the building from the inside feels alive. The first thing we saw as we went in was the SiFi hall of fame. Inside this room, there had to be about 20 different props, manuscripts and general artifacts from some of the best Sci-Fi movies and books of all time. For example...
Next, we went to the Fantasy exhibit where they had things like Dorothy's dress from the Wizard of oz and the sword from the Highlander. Following that was the horror exhibit. In order to get in you had to walk through a bunch of hanging bodies once inside they had pieces of horror from every major horror movie or show. Heads from the Walking Dead, Michael Myers' knife and mask, Mr. Pointy. All the classics.
Finally, we arrived at the Sci-fi main exhibit with everything from the original Terminator to #6's red dress.
After the museum, we ate at the culture kitchen, then headed to the Space Needle. after listening to some corny jokes about the renovations by the elevator lady we were inside and walking around the needle. It was gorgeous, and I fully intend on coming back at some point in my life once they complete the renovations.
Finally, we went home to our AirBnB, we waited for a while then eventually headed out for some great Chinese food. The most memorable dish was the pork soup dumplings, when you bit into them they would melt in your mouth. the complex network of flavors was so diverse and unlike anything I have tasted before in my life that I will remember it for the rest of my life.
Once we got back we watched some tv and then went to bed, good day all in all.
(sorry about the lack of pictures in the latter half of this we ran into problems in the uploading process, the corresponding pictures can be found on Jamie Sheffield's Facebook page)

There were Luke's hand and original lightsaber from Episode IV,
The original Red shirt from the original StarTrek,
Indiana Jones' Leather coat hat and the amulet from the original movie,
Hellboy's pistol and stone fist,
The original Script for Alien,
And Isaac Asimov's typewriter.
This was just the lobby. As we ventured up the stairs and onto the second level we saw the cop car prop from Robocop hanging from the ceiling, and a sign for the brand new Marvel exhibit. Sadly it was still being built when we went, so instead, we explored the Indie games exhibit that was right next to it.
The room was covered with cubes and there were tons of different indie games (independent from a major producer). It was a cool experience and a cool look into modern pop culture.
The next room we went to was the StarTrek exhibit. It contained many different props and costumes from the show as well as a description from the cast and director and the original script of the first episode of the original show.

That museum looks amazing. I'll make a point of going next time I'm there. Hellboy's hand looks smaller than I expected... Glad you didn't burn your mouth on the soup dumplings
