Day 12
Day
Our day had an early start at 6:48 am, and an early departure of 7:13 am. We didn't have to get up this early because our only commitment was at 11:30, but we wanted to head out eat breakfast get coffee, and scooter around a bit.
Around 11 we headed over to our cruise once we checked in and then explored a bit more of pier 39. We bought some chocolate for the cruise and then returned to the front of the line for the cruise. We were the first people on and we stood at the bow of the boat.
The cruise itself was really cool. We went under the golden gate bridge, saw how the huge towers the hold up the bridge are further apart than most bridges, as well we also learned that the wire connecting the towers have enough wires inside to wrap around the earth three times.
After the bridge, the boat took us to Alcatraz island. We circled the island twice seeing the different buildings and the rocky caves that cover the island.
We took a long way back to shore, going past the bay bridge as well as other landmarks.
Once back on shore, we walked over to the ferry market to get some oysters form Hogs Island Oysters. They were phenominal, and each type of oyster we ordered was extremely different from other oysters that we ordered. This difference was both in look and taste. Some were big blue shells others were in smaller blue shells, one was in a completely flat grey white shell. there taste and texture varied in these ways as well. Some were sweet and smooth, others had an earthy taste, and were a bit brinier. The two best were the Sweetwaters and the Chelsea gems. The Sweetwaters were small and blue, as you can probably tell by the name they were sweet, and had a nice texture. The Chelsea Gems were big and in a white gray shell. They had earthy undertones and a bit of a kick at the end when you ate them the melted in your mouth.
After lunch, we caught an uber to china town where we checked out the new Chinese American museum. It was very new and took us a total of three minutes to see the entirety of the museum. So we explored china town a bit more and found a tea store that was offering free samples.
This tea store made the entire excursion worth it. It was like a class on how to make tea, except it was different from anything we had learned in the past. The first 5 seconds of tea that you make you have to throughout because that is what is bitter then steep it again for 30 seconds only and that is the actual tea that you should drink. This blew our minds.
We then went back home with our booty and ate delivery in our house, due to our early train.

That's so interesting about the tea. Most tea I drink specifies 3 minutes of steeping. I've certainly never thrown any tea out. Very cool! I love tea, and the accessories... Glad you had such a good time.
