Washington DC

We arrived in Washington 6 hours later than we were supposed to, and got a late lunch. After lunch, we were tired from the trip and went back to the Airbnb and hung out until 7:30 when we went out for Thai food.

The next day we started off the morning by visiting the FDR monument and seeing my Aunt Ann who I haven't seen since I was very young.

My Dad and I were amazed by the atmosphere of the monument. It was very much a monument to the country at the time he was president more than a monument to the man himself. It was arranged from his first term to his last term. with different inspirational quotes surrounding the area. The monument itself was made out of huge grey stones they were pieced together in ways that allowed for gaps or indentations along the surface of the walls for statues, plaques, quotes, or just air to make its home. As well as these monolithic stones there were cracks where water would seep out forming waterfalls that were designed to fill the gaps without anything in them.

We then proceeded to walk to the Smithsonian, where my aunt used to work, for a meal at the cafe. It was good to see her and cool to see the monument.
After we parted ways, we headed to the Holocaust Museum. Looking back over the entirety of the trip my Dad and I said that our favorite museum was not the Holocaust Museum but this is purely due to the fact that it was so dark and moving that it physically could not have been our favorite.
The hallways of the museum were designed to be disorientingly crowded and to give you a feeling of what it was like, the bone-chilling artifacts pictures and stories that were so real they seemed fake.
This is about all the detail I feel comfortable going into, mostly because of how disturbing the imagery and idea of the museum was.

I highly recommend for anyone/everyone to go there once.

The next day we got an early start and headed to the zoo. We got there before it opened and walked around.

The first exhibit we found was the panda, the panda in the big encloser was Bai-Bai, Bai-Bai was the most energetic panda I have ever seen in my life.
When we first saw him he ran around the enclosed, did summersaults and climbed trees. It was truly amazing.
We proceeded to walk through the zoo and see amazing animals for the next two hours or so.

Then we caught an uber to the Landmark Atlantic Plumbing Theater, where we saw "A Quiet Place" so we could relax on the last day of our trip.

For dinner, we went to a restaurant by the name of Estadio, a Mexican tapas restaurant with astonishing food. The best thing we ate Foie Gras.
It was the best Fois Gras that either of us has had in our lives and the perfect end to our trip.
